Worship

4338937192_4d88737d29The Bible tells the story of God's saving love – worship “rehearses” the story over and over until it becomes part of your daily life. Presbyterian worship is grounded in the reading, singing and preaching of God's Word as revealed in the Old and New Testaments. Upon faithful participation in worship you also begin to grow deeper in your knowledge of God and self.

A big debate in worship today is over the music played and sung. Here at Trinity we are guided by the following principles

  • Music will be the chosen each week with the goal of complimenting and re-enforcing the Word proclaimed

  • Our worship music will reflect the early Church practice of including Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs as described by the Apostle Paul in Letters to the Ephesians and Colossians

  • Our musical program will make use of many different instruments including organ, piano, drums, brass, woodwinds and stringed instruments including the contemporary versions of these instruments. Their purpose will be to assist in congregational singing and to draw attention to God's love and creative power.

The modern challenge to worship is entertainment. We live in a culture of amusement and lavishly produced distractions. Here at Trinity we seek to engage the head, heart and body with the living presence of a saving Lord

We worship because God has blessed us with the gift of life; brings order and purpose to the life lived; and through his merciful love saves us from ourselves. Therefore worship is our grateful service to God that expresses our appreciation for what He has done, is doing and will do. Worship is first and foremost a response to God's goodness. Worship is your gift to God.

The goal of worship is to be transparent to the wonder of God.
